about the principal / Creative director

Marcia McCray received her diploma in visual arts from the Baltimore School for the Arts. She then earned an Associate in Arts degree in fashion design from Baltimore City Community College (BCCC) and served as illustrator for BCCC's Fashion Club. While attending BCCC, she gained valuable experience working for The Gap's division, Banana Republic, as a sales associate, an assistant visual fashion merchandiser, and as a pacesetter. After graduating from BCCC, she attended the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) where she earned her BFA in illustration and graphic design. While at MICA, Marcia landed a full-time position at Baltimore City's Office of the Mayor as assistant curator and graphic designer for City Hall's Courtyard and Circle Galleries. During her senior year at the art school, she interned at a small graphic design firm in Millersville, Maryland where she was offered a position as an entry level graphic designer upon graduation. Three years later, Marcia was presented a promising opportunity as an entry level graphic designer for Goucher College, a private liberal arts school in Towson, MD, where she was later promoted as senior graphic designer. During that time, Marcia's illustrations were recognized in a collaborative brochure which won a silver medal award from CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education), titled A Short Guide to a Happy College Search for the college's Office of Student Admissions. In the spring of 2009, Goucher received a face lift when Marcia redesigned the school's logo and entire identity system. She remained at the college for over four and a half years before launching her business full-time, Marcia McCray Illustration & Design LLC.

She has designed for clients such as Maryland Public Television, the Baltimore Collegetown Network, and the Maryland Career Consortium as well as a host of other private clients. Marcia's artwork was also displayed and sold at Baltimore City's Artscape, one of the largest art festivals in the country, in both 2006 and 2007. Marcia is committed to helping aspiring designers and illustrators. Today, she continues her endeavors as the principal and creative director of her own company developing products and assisting businesses and private clients with her services.
